Josh Duhamel has long been the face of a chiseled dreamboat onscreen, in his roles like Win a Date with Ted Hamilton, Las Vegas and the Transformers franchise. Now, at 52, and with two young kids, Duhamel is hoping to pioneer the men’s health and wellness space with the launch of his company, GATLAN.

Duhamel says when he first discovered the benefits of hormone therapy, he kept it a secret, before realizing he had the opportunity to help others feel as great as he did. Conceived out of his personal encounters with aging and the quest to feel his best on set and with his family, GATLAN aims to reshape how men approach wellness through science-backed testosterone replacement and weight loss therapies.

After wrapping production on his directorial debut, Preschool in London, Duhamel opened up to The Healthy by Reader’s Digest about his recent projects and the motivations behind launching the his company. The Healthy by Reader’s Digest: Josh, we heard you’re busy in production right now. Can you share a little about what you’re working on?

Josh Duhamel: We just wrapped up filming a movie called Preschool in London, which I directed. It was such an incredible experience, and I truly believe we made a great movie, one that people will be able to relate to.

After being away for a few months, I’m really happy to be back home with my family. I’m also excited for the release of Ransom Canyon on Netflix on April 17. It’s a story that audiences are really going to love. Right now, I’m focused on spending quality time with my family, launching GATLAN, and continuing to push the conversation around men’s health.

The Healthy: You’ve had such a long and successful career in entertainment—what inspired you to step into the men’s health and wellness space with GATLAN?

Josh Duhamel: Honestly, it all started with me just wanting to show up as the best version of myself, for my wife, my kids, and my career. I’ve got some beautiful kids, a 1-year-old and an 11-year-old. I want to be able to keep up with them, chase them around, and stay active as they grow. At the same time, I love what I do, and I want to keep doing it for as long as possible without feeling run down. When I found out about testosterone and longevity medicine, it was a total game-changer. My energy, focus, and overall well-being improved in ways I didn’t even realize I needed. That’s really what GATLAN is all about: helping men get the knowledge and tools to feel their best at every stage of life.

The Healthy: Testosterone replacement and weight loss therapies have often been stigmatized. How do you hope GATLAN changes that conversation, and what kind of changes have you personally experienced?

Josh Duhamel: When I first started my own wellness journey, I kept it a secret. I think a lot of men feel hesitant to talk about hormone health, and I was no different. But after a while, I realized how amazing this made me feel and wanted the rest of the world to know about it too. The truth is, taking care of yourself, both inside and out, shouldn’t be a taboo subject. That’s exactly why we started GATLAN: to make conversations about men’s wellness, longevity, and optimization normal, accessible, and backed by science. We’ve got an oral testosterone replacement therapy called KYZATREX to help guys get their energy, focus, and drive back. We also offer GLP-1 medication and personalized support to make sure you’re covered from all angles. I’ve seen firsthand how much of a game-changer this stuff can be, and I want other men to have access to the same tools that have helped me.

The Healthy: Aging and wellness are topics that don’t always get enough attention for men. How has your approach to feeling good changed over the years?

Josh Duhamel: In my 20s and 30s, I could push my body to the limit and bounce right back. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that recovery, nutrition, and overall balance are just as important as training hard. Feeling good isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about energy, mental clarity, and longevity. I’ve shifted my mindset from just working out to tuning into my body and mind so I can keep performing at a high level in every area of my life.

The Healthy: You’ve played so many action-packed roles—how has your approach to fitness and health evolved? What does your daily wellness routine look like?

Josh Duhamel: Early in my career, my fitness routine was all about intensity: heavy lifting, high-impact training, and pushing myself to the limit. Now, I take a more holistic approach. Strength training is still a big part of what I do, but I also focus on mobility, recovery, and hormone health. Yoga has become a staple for me, and I’m all about hot and cold therapy. Nothing beats a good cold plunge!

My daily wellness routine starts with movement, whether that’s weight training, stretching, or just getting outside. Nutrition plays a huge role in how I feel, so I focus on clean, protein-rich meals and make sure I stay hydrated. And, of course, sleep is key.

The Healthy: What is one self-care ritual you refuse to skip?

Josh Duhamel: I have two. Number 1 is prioritizing sleep. It’s the foundation of everything. No matter how busy my schedule gets, I make sure to get quality rest. It’s the most simple yet most powerful tool for overall wellness.

[And] no matter how pumped I am about the projects I get to work on, the older I get, the more I realize that nothing matters more than the time I spend with the people I love. I especially love hanging out with my kids—watching them discover and experience life, the good and the bad. They remind me what it’s like to see the world through fresh eyes. They let me be a kid again, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.
