Friday might mean a grocery haul is near, and the march toward spring might have you feeling a little more inspired to eat lighter, brighter foods. If you’re among the 55% of Target shoppers Grocery Dive cites as buying at least some groceries there, you’ll want to pay attention to a particular product under the popular Target house brand label, Good & Gather.

On Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a recall notice for 197,808 total cans of Good & Gather Cut Green Beans. The FDA cites the recall reason as the potential presence of a “foreign object,” though no further details are given for what type of foreign object.

The recall, first initiated on February 12 but evidently not announced until now, includes the following product details:

  • Good & Gather Cut Green Beans
  • Net Wt. 14.5 oz (411g)
  • UPC 0 85239-11628 9
  • Lot 7AA 418507
  • Best if Used By: 28 OCT 2026
  • Distributed By Target Corporation, Minneapolis, MN
  • 197,808 total cans (8,242 cases with 24 cans per case)

The green beans were distributed to a total of 21 states:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • North Carolina
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Wisconsin

Del Monte Foods, Inc in Walnut Creek, CA, is listed as the recalling firm, likely meaning the green beans were manufactured by the company. The Del Monte brand offers a wide selection of canned green bean products.

The FDA has designated the event as a Class II recall, meaning the products “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.”

Target and Del Monte Foods have not posted additional information regarding the recall as of Friday morning. Anyone with the affected products should not eat the green beans and can reach out to their retail location for possible further instructions.

In recent months, containers of hummusyogurt, and Walmart baked goods were all recalled due to “foreign objects.”
