A Popular Grocery Chain Just Announced a Warning on Bottled Water in 12 States

Trader Joe’s just has a way of making healthy living a little easier, don’t they? Prices are affordable by many comparisons, there’s a range of items for nearly any diet, and they’re known for checking out your items with a smile.
They also carry some brands simply due to popular demand, outside the TJ’s house label. For one of these, late Wednesday, the Southern California-headquartered chain published a recall on their site. It sounds like glass-bottled water may pose a danger to some Trader Joe’s customers.
The company announced that for customers who shopped between this past December 27 and January 28, “We have been informed by our supplier of Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water that certain lot codes may have the potential for cracked/damaged bottles.”
They say the issue “potentially affects 1%” of bottles with the following lot codes, which also appear to reflect the expiration dates:
- 2024/28/11 24 2027/19/12
- 2024/271/11 24 2027/18/12
The affected products were reportedly distributed to Trader Joe’s locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
They say no adverse events have been reported, as the issue was identified through “research related to bottle breakage during production.” They urge customers: “If you have bottles with either lot code, please do not use them. We urge you to dispose of them carefully and go to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”
Gerolsteiner’s site says the brand is Germany’s “most consumed mineral water.” No matter where your water comes from, cheers to hydration. Drinking from glass is one wise way to avoid microplastics exposure.
