And now we have a better sense of why this major consumer products company has possibly recalled so many lately.

Another 57,000 Children’s Skincare Products Have Been Recalled Nationwide

Whether you’re prepping for spring and summer or just back from family spring break, more child caregivers than ever are aware that protecting children’s skin right now can prevent multiple types of cancer down the road.
But last week, a recall of several SC Johnson and Son, Inc. sunscreen products was a reminder that sometimes products marketed to protect little ones can miss the mark, even when they’re carefully formulated.
Now the company has added a new batch of bottles to its list of recalls. On Wednesday, the FDA pushed out a report that another 57,184 bottles of Babyganics mineral sunscreen have been recalled. While last week’s announcement hinted at a quality issue, we may have a better sense of what that particular issue is. From the FDA’s report: Failed stability specifications: during routine stability monitoring quality concerns were identified. To be more specific, they add: Physical separation for ingredients was observed.
It’s possible that the mineral content of the sunscreen, while allowing for a “cleaner” nontoxic formula, didn’t blend effectively with other ingredients to deliver the appropriate UV protection.
The recall appears to affect two sizes of Babyganics Sheer Blend, SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Fragrance Free (zinc oxide 20%), distributed by KAS Direct, LLC, in Racine, WI 53403. Made in Canada.
